Revised FlexChoice cash program
'grandfathers' current faculty, staff

Get details, ask questions at
four forums later this month

Center faculty and staff will get their first look later this month at a revised FlexChoice health insurance program.

Recommended by a nine-member ad hoc faculty/staff committee, the new program will be considered Monday, Aug. 21, by the Center's Space and Resources Committee before being aired at four forums Aug. 25-30.

Build it from Scratch

The assignment:

  • To track the health data of 160,000 women scattered across the country at 40 different institutions in 23 states.

The contract specifications:

  • Data must be collected efficiently and with scientific precision for 15 years.

Providing the computing system to meet those specifications is the task facing the Center's Scott G. Davis, network manager, and his staff of three in developing the Women's Health Initiative network.

The WHI is the largest comprehensive clinical study ever funded by the National Institutes of Health. To coordinate the study, the NIH awarded a $143 million contract to the Center in 1992.
