The challenge of an unclimbed mountain mirrors the quest to conquer cancer — the route is uncharted, there are unexpected setbacks and exhilarating advances, yet the goal remains paramount. As the professional mountaineers on the Big Expedition undertake the journey to explore new heights in the mountains of Alaska, researchers at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center continue toward our mission to eliminate cancer. The research of four of our scientists is presented here to reflect the similarities in mountain climbing and to highlight their lifesaving efforts.
