Institutional Relationships

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research CenterFred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, together with its clinical and research partners, the University of Washington and Seattle Children's, form one of 40 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer-research centers. In 1998, the Hutchinson Center joined UW Medicine and Seattle Children's to form the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, one of the leading cancer centers in the United States. The SCCA provides clinical care to patients being treated by physicians from the three partner organizations. The Hutchinson Center and the SCCA are members of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.

A Hutchinson Center/University of Washington Cancer Consortium was formed in 2002 to further enhance and accelerate the cancer research of the Hutchinson Center, UW and Seattle Children's. While all three institutions remain independent, the consortium combines their strengths.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is under contract with the National Cancer Institute (Contract HHSN261200511012C) to serve Alaska, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington through the Partnership Program.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is also under contract with the National Cancer Institute to operate one of three Contact Centers. The Contact Centers provide cancer and smoking cessation information by telephone, TTY, and instant messaging in response to inquiries from the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the U.S. Associated Pacific Territories.
