Two investigators with research interests in cancer and infectious diseases will join the Human Biology Division faculty next fall.
Dr. Nina Salama, postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University, studies pathogenesis of Helicobacter pylori, a form of bacteria associated with peptic ulcers and a major risk factor for gastric cancer.
"Nina has developed an amazing set of tools for looking at the genes involved in the pathogenic process," said Dr. Barbara Trask, division director.
Dr. Valeri Vasioukhin, postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chicago, has worked on cell adhesion in skin. Trask said Vasioukhin will analyze the role of cell adhesion in prostate cancer.
