Brief
Seattle City Light has cited the Hutch as an "energy hero." Gary Zarker, superintendent, notes that the Center saved nearly $400,000 in energy costs last year thanks to long-term conservation installations.
The Center, he said, turned overhead lights off an hour earlier every evening and reduces building temperatures every winter and summer. These steps alone will save $78,000 this year.
By taking advantage of City Light's new financial incentive program for medium to large customers, the Center will qualify for a 20 percent bonus for energy conservation projects completed before Nov. 30.
