Dr. Ruth Patterson, an investigator in the Public Health Sciences Division, has been awarded the 2001 Washington State Dietetic Association (WSDA) Clinical Practice/Research Award for Excellence.
The award was presented during a dinner at the WSDA annual meeting on March 29 in Spokane.
Patterson has led nutrition studies that have included a study last year demonstrating that consumption of the fat substitute olestra is associated with lowered serum cholesterol levels and dietary fat intake.
WSDA is the state affiliate of the American Dietetic Association.
