Back clinical trials, Evans tells 900 at $1.1 million NWIP gala

Former Gov. Dan Evans issued a ringing call for support of clinical trials during the 2001 NorthWest Industry Partnership dinner that raised $1.1 million for the Hutch earlier this month.

More than 900 Hutch supporters attended the gala event held Saturday, June 16, at Washington State Convention & Trade Center.

Evans and his wife Nancy received the 2001 E. Donnall Thomas Medal of Achievement, presented at the dinner and given in the name of the Center's 1990 Nobel prize-winner.

Evans and his children spoke about the importance of clinical trials in developing life-saving protocols. His granddaughter Eloise was treated successfully for cancer recently at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center.

Entertainment was provided by the Capitol Steps.
