The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations will conduct an on-site survey of faculty and staff of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 22 and 23.
The non-profit, independent accrediting body surveys health-care facilities to measure compliance with nationally established commission standards. The survey will focus on quality of care and the safety of the patient-care environment.
The two-day survey will include visits to the Alliance Inpatient Unit on floor 8 Northeast at University of Washington Medical Center as well as the Alliance Outpatient Clinic on the Day Campus. A team will conduct interviews, look at policies and procedures, audit medical charts, visit patient-care areas and tour the facilities.
Hutch departments that provide services to the Alliance - including Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety and Facilities Engineering - have contributed greatly to survey preparations.
Because this is the first time the Alliance will undergo a commission survey, the Oct. 22-23 visit will be followed by a second survey four months later.
Planning by the Alliance and UWMC resulted in consecutive surveys of both organizations. A commission survey of UWMC is taking place this week.
