Lake Union orchestra's season starts Oct. 27, to benefit Children's

The Lake Union Civic Orchestra this month kicks off its 2001-2002 concert season of benefits for Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center.

The nonprofit organization has selected the Hematology Oncology Clinic at Children's as the beneficiary of four concerts this season, beginning on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Christophe Chagnard, the orchestra's music director and the conductor of Northwest Sinfonietta, will conduct an Oct. 27 program called "A Russian Adventure," which includes "Piano Concerto No. 2" by Rachmaninov and "Symphony No. 5" by Tchaikovsky. The downbeat is at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall Seattle, 1119 Eighth Ave.

Tickets are $12. Children under 12 are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door or through http://www.ticketweb.com . Student/senior tickets are available at the door for $8. Season subscriptions to all four concerts ($40) can be purchased online or at the concert.
