Concerned about your retirement account and the current stock market activity?
Human Resources offers three workshops this month to help faculty and staff
deal with the stock-market volatility. The workshops are designed to remind
faculty and staff that more than ever, heeding the basic lessons in retirement
investing is critical when reacting to news of market decline and planning for
retirement in a bear market.
Here are descriptions of each workshop:
- "Staying On Track in a Market Downturn," noon-1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 1745
Met East.
This seminar addresses concerns you may have about market volatility and ways
to avoid common investor overreactions to it. Topics include initial reactions
to market fluctuations, when and what to act on when the market moves and
remembering positive opportunities during downward movements.
- "Retirement Investing In A Volatile Market," noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug.
7, Yale J2-108.
Presented by Aetna, this workshop discusses strategies in dealing with a changing
market and how to analyze your portfolio for market risk.

who are concerned about recent market volatility, portfolio allocation and
