As dozens of onlookers eat strawberry shortcake from above, the Almost FaMouS (the latter word an acronym for Financial Management Information Systems) team defeats a Basic Sciences team July 11 for the first of what is intended to be an annual, three-on-three center basketball tournament. Eight administrative teams and eight scientific teams battled earlier this summer for the privilege of participating in the title game and winning the tourney trophy. Hoisting the prize were Almost FaMouS players (right, from left) Don Hoferkamp, Jennifer Blackwood, Cynthia Lysen, Pete Paznokas, Ylanda Thomas and John Hernandez. (Team member Peg Boyle was out of town and is not pictured.) The "commissioner" of the event, Dick Pouley, manager of budget and reimbursement, says the Administrative Managers' Forum served up 170 helpings of strawberry shortcake to spectators during the culiminating contest, modeled on the NCAA's March Madness program. "We hope to do it again next year, probably in July," he said.
