There's still time to volunteer for Day of Caring on Friday, Sept. 13
Are you interested in volunteering on a community project for one day? Center staff are invited to participate in the United Way's 11th annual Day of Caring, the largest single-day mobilization of volunteers in King County.
Day of Caring volunteers provide non-profit organizations with assistance with projects that allow resources to be focused on helping people who need I most.
Last year, more than 100 center and affiliated employees participated. This year, teams of center volunteers will be gardening, painting, cleaning, organizing a prom dance and a "Viva Las Vegas" party for senior citizens, organizing conference materials and working in a food bank.
Volunteers can join as individuals, join as a group of friends or co-workers or lead a team of other volunteers. In addition to a strong sense of accomplishment, teamwork and fun, volunteers also receive regular work pay from their employer (with supervisor approval), refreshments and a Day of Caring T-shirt.
