Shown from left, Nyvea Silva of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Musa Msomi, of Durban, South Africa, talk with Udiom Likhitwonnawut of Chiang Ma, Thailand, and Andrew Lambert, international projects manager, during a break at the HIV Vaccine Trials Network Community Advisory Board “train-the-trainer” meeting held Aug. 14-16 at the center.
Representatives from the 25 HVTN vaccine trial sites in 16 countries attended the retreat, which was designed to provide community volunteers with information to take back to their local community advisory board (CAB).
CABs serve as liasions between the community members who participate in vaccine trials and the local scientists who conduct the trials. After returning to their countries, each attendee will lead a training session at his or her site.
