PHS all-staff meeting attendees look toward new building, April open house
Public Health Sciences Division faculty and staff attended the division’s all-staff meeting on Nov. 21, the last such event to be held prior to the division’s move to the Day Campus, which will begin the first weekend in February. The agenda included an overview from Dr. Lee Hartwell, president and director, of the center’s strategic planning and fundraising initiatives as well as a progress report from Scott Rusch, director of facilities, on the soon-to-be-completed PHS building.
Dr. Mary Anne Rossing, PHS associate director, summarized recent and future division highlights, which include:
- The hiring of a new nutritional scientist, scheduled to join the faculty next spring;
- Public and private open house events for the new building on Apr. 16 and 17;
- A symposium on gastric cancer, jointly sponsored by the center and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to be held Apr. 2 and 3;
- New division committees focused on lab space allocation and staff scientist policies.
