The key is your HutchNet ID

HutchNet ID gives employees and affiliates one user name and password for easier access to data and computing resources center-wide

A single logon name, your HutchNet ID, provides access for most employees to a range of center-wide data resources including e-mail and Financial Management Systems. Your HutchNet ID is an electronic signature and should never be shared with anyone. photo by Todd McNaught

Have you recently received an e-mail from the IT Help Desk notifying you that your HutchNet ID is about to expire and thought to yourself, “What the heck is a HutchNet ID?”

Don’t worry, you’re not alone.

Due to Fred Hutchinson’s varied computing environment, a task as seemingly straightforward as a network logon can cause confusion. And even though almost everyone at Fred Hutchinson now uses it, few know their logon has a name, HutchNet ID.

The HutchNet ID allows employees and affiliates to access center-wide computing resources. For some studies at the center this is not the same logon used to sign on to your desktop computer. The Women’s Health Initiative, COMPASS, SWOG, and many other studies at the center maintain their own networks and require their own logons. Yet employees and affiliates in these studies require access to a number of resources such as FMS, the Virtual Private Network, or Internet Services’ Web manager. Rather than require each system to use a different logon, the HutchNet ID provides a single username and password.

Electronic signature

The HutchNet ID provides access to data resources available to everyone at the center. Along with a keycard and photo ID, every new hire and affiliate at Fred Hutchinson receives a HutchNet ID, which like the keycard and photo authorizes an employee or affiliate to place requests from center resources. Such a request could be as public as making a connection to a shared network folder or as private as verifying W2 deductions online. Because the HutchNet ID is an electronic signature, it should never be shared with anyone other than to whom it was originally assigned.

For more information on your HutchNet ID, e-mail the helpdesk@fhcrc.org or call 206-667-5700.

What can you do with your HutchNet ID?

Although many studies around the center maintain their own logon to their own study’s network, employees and affiliates can access many center-wide computer resources with a single logon, their HutchNet ID. These include:

Financial Management System (FMS) - PeopleSoft and Crystal Enterprise
The FMS Project replaced the financial and grants management system (SPOT), the reporting system (BudgeTrak) and the procurement system (AP/PO) with PeopleSoft, an integrated Web-based information management system. FMS is an accessible, integrated and forward looking financial system. For more information: http://www.fhcrc.org/admin/fms.

Human Resources self service
Employee services online—the gateway to Human Resources’ self service applications and information for employees, managers and affiliates of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. For more information: http://www.fhcrc.org/admin/hr/ben/esonline.html.
