The Fred Hutchinson Diversity Council will launch a new initiative this spring with two pilot "diversity learning groups" for faculty and staff, one of several council projects in the works that will yield results in coming months.
The groups are purely voluntary and based on a successful model created by the University of Wisconsin at Madison, said Kim Wells, council chair. The groups will meet monthly to discuss topics of their choosing, including gender, race, culture and age.
More details will be announced this spring at an ice-cream social sponsored by the Diversity Council. Information regarding staff focus groups, which the council conducted last fall, also will be available.
