Confidentiality training sessions on the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) continue this month through March.
Faculty and staff who deal with individuals' protected health information are required to attend one session or complete Internet-based training online before the act goes into law on Monday, April 14.
Everyone in the Administration Division is required to attend a basic-level session or complete Internet-based training, also by April 14.
Trainer Lee Strucker has scheduled two types of sessions: (1) for investigators and research staff and (2) for administrative staff. Check with your supervisor if you have questions about which session to attend. Strucker also offers sessions customized for departments or work groups.

For administrative staff: today, 2-2:45 p.m., Pelton; Monday, Jan. 27, noon-12:45 p.m., Yale J2-515; Tuesday, Feb. 4, 3-3:45 p.m., Met East 927; Thursday, Feb. 13, 2-2:45 p.m., Pelton; Friday, Feb. 21, noon-12:45 p.m., Yale J2-515; Monday, March 10, 11-11:45 a.m., Pelton; Wednesday, March 19, 11-11:45 a.m., Met East 927; Monday, March 24, 11-11:45 a.m., Yale J2-515.
For investigators and research staff: Thursday, Jan. 30, 10-11 a.m., Met East 927; Monday, Feb. 10, 11 a.m.-noon, Pelton; Thursday, Feb. 27, 3:30-4:30 p.m., Met East 927; Tuesday, March 11, 10-11 a.m., Met East 927; Thursday, March 20, 2-3 p.m., Pelton.
