The provocatively attired Buns of Aluminum team, above, won the first Fred Hutchinson/Alliance Healthy Challenge, narrowly beating Fury and the Curiously Strong Women.
One hundred forty-one teams of four, composed of 564 employees from the center and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, took the challenge to eat well, exercise and keep other healthy habits during the 12-week event. Teams earned points in several categories for following the daily habits.
The Human Resources Department sponsored the event to encourage people to lead healthy lives, which in turn can help keep health-care costs in check.
“This is the best thing I’ve done since joining the Hutch,” said Dr. Hootie Warren, above left, a member of the winning team. “We all get so busy and think our responsibilities should take priority over our own health. This was a good reminder to take care of yourself.”
Warren’s team also included, from left, Suzanne Xuereb, Michele Brown and Kevin Koo, all research technicians in Immunology.
