Ian Anderson, a nurse in Fred Hutchinson's bone-marrow transplant program at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and Keri Hadley, a nurse at the University of Washington Breast Health Center, are respectively a finalist and winner of the 2003 Nursing Excellence Award from NurseWeek Magazine. The awards were presented at a reception July 12 in Las Vegas.
Anderson, who has worked as an oncology nurse for 25 years and has been a member of the transplant program since 1995, was named a finalist in the clinical-care award category and was one of 49 nurses honored from the 11 states in NurseWeek's Mountain West region. He was nominated by colleagues for his dedication and excellent care of oncology patients.
Hadley, winner of the innovation award category, is a surgical nurse at the Breast Health Center, which provides diagnostic workups, breast surgery for diagnosis and follow-ups after cancer treatment.
