More than 180 faculty and staff attended a Basic Sciences Division retreat Sept. 22-23 at Semi-ah-moo resort in Blaine.
The program included short research presentations by faculty and a poster session that featured projects conducted by postdocs, graduate students and technicians.
Dr. Dennis Grahn from the department of biological sciences at Stanford University was one of two invited speakers at the retreat. Grahn, who has developed cooling systems to prevent athletes from heat exhaustion, gave a talk entitled “Developing On-Demand Hyperthermia in Humans.”
Dr. Allan Spradling, of the Department of Embryology at the Carnegie Institute of Washington, gave a talk entitled “Three Pieces for Fruitfly and Ovary.”
