Rusch builds his way to top as new vice president of Facilities

The Facilities and Operations Department has a new vice president, former Director of Facilities Scott Rusch. Rusch replaces Guy Ott, who retired on Jan. 2.

Rusch began his Fred Hutchinson career in 1990 as a construction administrator during the Phase I expansion. He became the manager of facilities planning and construction in 1996 and then the director of facilities in 1998. As the vice president of Facilities and Operations, Rusch will be responsible for capital projects, real estate and property management, facilities engineering, facilities planning and construction, environmental health and safety, transportation and parking, security, and food services.

Before joining the center, Rusch worked at the University of Washington from 1984 to 1990 in project management of large capital construction projects. Some of the projects included the University Hospital expansion, Husky Stadium expansion, Graves Annex and Allen Library.

He received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington.
