Brief
Scientists from other countries may face unique difficulties or issues. To help with these challenges, the Student/Postdoc Advisory Committee (SPAC) will provide four awards of $500 per year for foreign graduate student and postdoc career networking groups to help further their career goals. Groups must reapply for these funds annually.
The awards may be used to organize career development seminars or training sessions and to support miscellaneous costs for monthly group meetings.
Ideally, some of these events will be of benefit to all foreign-national postdocs and students at the center. If this is the case, the group is encouraged to invite all center postdocs and students to the event.
Groups who are awarded support must identify at least one member who will attend monthly SPAC meetings, which are held on the third Thursday of each month from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Double Helix Cafe.
To obtain an application or for more information, contact Dr. Karen Peterson, associate for interdisciplinary research, at kpeterso@fhcrc.org. Applications are due Thursday, April 1, and awardees will be notified by April 15.
