Brief
Dr. Bob Eisenman, investigator in the Basic Sciences Division, will be the speaker at the next New Perspectives in Science seminar, which will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 20 in Pelton Auditorium.
Eisenman is a leader in the field of oncogenes, aberrantly regulated genes that cause cancer. His studies on a gene known as myc are seminal to scientists' understanding of how normal cells become cancerous. Eisenman's work has paved the way for the discoveries of other oncogenes that work by interacting with DNA. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
