Catch a Cure for Cancer weekend raised more than $540,000 for cancer research Aug. 12-15. The fund-raising events — including a radiothon on KOMO 1000 News Radio and a celebrity waiters dinner and auction sponsored by Union Square Grill — will support The Gregory Fund for early cancer detection research, an initiative of Fred Hutchinson and The Moyer Foundation.
The weekend concluded with a special tribute to patients and their families at Safeco Field before a Seattle Mariners game. As part of the ceremony, Fred Hutchinson’s widow, Patsy Hutchinson, made an on-field presentation honoring Hutch Award winner Jamie Moyer. Previous Hutch Award winners Paul Molitor of the Mariners and Joe Torre and John Olerud of the New York Yankees also were on hand.
