Name: Valerie Dodgin

Job Title: Program assistant, part time
Public Health Sciences Division

Commutes from: Shoreline

Alternative commuting choice: Carpools on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Bicycles to travel elsewhere

Period of time: One year

Why I chose to commute this way: "It saves time, gas money and emission. My commute takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic. The alternate would be driving solo and the commute time would be greater by at least one-third."

Name: Roy Obenchain

Job Title: Systems administrator, Public Health Sciences Division

Commutes from: Shoreline, about 12 miles north on Interstate 5

Alternative commuting choice: Carpools on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Takes the bus on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays

Period of time: Nine months

Why I chose to commute this way: "Carpooling two days a week makes for a very fast and convenient commute on those days. While riding the bus takes a long time, I get a lot of exercise since I have to do a lot of walking and I also have the time on the bus to catch up on my reading."

For more information on commuting options, contact the Transportation Department at (206) 667-1438.
