Sanders named Swanson Family Endowed Chair

The Clinical Research Division's Dr. Jean Sanders, director of the Hutchinson Center's pediatric stem-cell transplantation program, was recently named the first holder of the Gerald and Gloria Swanson Family Endowed Chair in Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation Research. Established through a gift to Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center, the endowment supports Sanders' continued work in pediatric transplantation. She will hold the chair indefinitely.

Sanders, who is also a professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington, was selected because of her oncology expertise and her pioneering role in pediatric transplantation.

Sanders has been treating children with cancer for 30 years. In addition to her transplantation work and research, she runs a weekly clinic for Seattle-area post-transplant pediatric patients living with chronic graft-vs.-host disease.
