Science Fridays educational series kicks off Feb. 25 in Pelton

Brief

February 17, 2005

A new monthly program to provide informal science-education activities for center staff will launch Friday, Feb. 25, in Pelton Auditorium. Dubbed "Science Fridays," the program is geared toward nonscientific center staff who wish to learn more about a variety of scientific topics related to work at Fred Hutchinson. The series begins with a screening of "Cancer Warrior," a video about the triumphs and pitfalls of developing the cancer-drug Endostatin. The video will run from noon to 1 p.m.

Subsequent programs will feature films, videos and presentations from center scientists on topics such as the use of model organisms in biomedical research, color blindness, clinical and research pathology, and bone-marrow transplantation. Future Science Fridays will be held on the following dates: March 25, April 15, May 13, June 24 and Nov. 18.
