Loretta Tse joins Industry Relations, Technology Transfer Jan. 10

Dr. Loretta Tse, a biotechnology business-development specialist and former research scientist, will join the center Jan. 10 as managing director/senior licensing associate in the Industry Relations and Technology Transfer Office. Tse will be responsible for developing and commerciaizing new technologies developed by center researchers. She will also assist in the management of the Industry Relations and Technology Transfer office.

Tse most recently worked as an associate at Oxford Bioscience Partners, an East Coast venture-capital firm that focuses on early-stage investments in the life sciences. There, she evaluated investment opportunities, negotiated with scientific founders and technology transfer offices and worked with portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Oxford, Tse served as director of business development at Mergen, a DNA microarray company, where she managed its intellectual property, licensing and collaboration strategies. She also has held the position of business-development manager at Strata Biosciences, a functional genomics company. In addition, Tse serves as a reviewer for the National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research Program.

Tse received a doctorate in pharmacology and molecular sciences from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, where she conducted research on HIV.
