Taste Toastmasters at Jan. 12 organizational meeting

Brief

January 6, 2005

Fred Hutchinson now sponsors a Toastmasters Club on campus for center and Alliance staff members. Toastmasters is an international non-profit organization that provides opportunities to improve communication skills. Members learn how to give impromptu and prepared speeches, introduce someone, run effective meetings, deliver inspirational thoughts, make an effective presentation and become a better conversationalist. Toastmasters also provides opportunities for leadership development.

Club meetings are one hour, once a week. An organizational meeting will be held at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 12 in Yale J2-108. Those interested in joining Toastmasters will sign up, decide on a club name and weekly meeting time, and elect seven officers. The costs, due at sign-up time, are: $16 one-time initiation fee for each new member, $18 per person dues. Bi-annual dues of $18 are payable every six months thereafter. Checks should be made payable to Toastmasters International. Membership is limited to the first 30 people who sign up and pay dues. To learn more, contact Hannah A. Lee at (206) 667-3694, hlee@seattlecca.org, or Linda Guerrero at (206) 667-1248, lguerrer@fhcrc.org.
