Arnold Library sponsors free journal publishing, online full-text access through BioMed Central memberships

The Arnold Digital Library now sponsors an institutional membership to BioMed Central for Fred Hutchinson faculty and staff.

BioMed Central provides free, full-text access to all original research papers published in any of its more than 90 online journals covering many areas of biology and medicine. View a list of these full-text journals on the library resources page at http://www.fhcrc.org/library/resources.

BioMed Central normally pays for the costs of publishing by levying a processing charge on authors for each article published. Institutional membership allows all researchers at Fred Hutchinson to publish in BioMed Central journals free of charge. Instructions on how to submit a paper can be found at http://www.biomedcentral.com/manuscript/.

Publishing in BioMed Central journals has a number of advantages, including:

• Free access to readers: No subscription charges or registration barriers for access to original full-text research articles.



• Authors retain copyright of their work and are free to put it on a publicly accessible server or on any other site they wish.



• Rapid peer review and publication: All papers are peer reviewed rapidly and efficiently due to an online system for submission, peer reviewing and publication. Articles are immediately indexed in PubMed and archived in PubMed Central.
