Nelson lab technician and former Miss Washington Allison Porter successfully climbed Mount Rainier on July 5 as a participant in the Center's annual Climb to Fight Breast Cancer. A champion boxer and experienced climber, Porter climbed in support of the Center and her platform from the past year, "Going Three Rounds in the Fight Against Cancer: Prevention, Treatment and Funding."

The Climb to Fight Breast Cancer is an annual series of summer climbs to raise money for breast-cancer research at the Hutchinson Center. For a fund-raising minimum, climbers joined teams and scaled Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, Mount Adams or Oregon's Mount Hood in June and July. The series concludes in August with a climb of Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro. Participants are not required to have climbing experience. They are expected to undergo various levels of physical conditioning and other training in preparation for their climb. For information about next year's Climb to Fight Breast Cancer, call (206) 667-1398 or visit www.fhcrc.org/climb.
