Diversity Council sponsors cultural-awareness seminar for managers June 23 in Arnold Building

On June 23 from noon to 2 p.m., in M1A305, the Diversity Council will sponsor a brown-bag seminar for managers entitled "Cultural Awareness — The Manager's Power to Create and Maintain an Inclusive and Effective Work Environment."

Bring your lunch and attend this informal and interactive discussion about what it means to be culturally aware as a manager and why it is important to create an environment in which inclusiveness is actively promoted. The seminar will focus on what we can do to go beyond creating respectful teams to teams that encourage diverse talents and perspectives.

Dr. Donna Stringer will be the facilitator for the discussion. Stringer is the president of Executive Diversity Services and a faculty member of the Intercultural Communication Institute in Portland, Oregon. Stringer has been speaking and writing on issues of multiculturalism and diversity for more than 25 years. For reservations or more information, contact John Duffell at (206) 667-5841 or jduffell@fhcrc.org.
