A garden plaza adorning the Robert M. Arnold Building was dedicated in honor of The Moyer Foundation at an outdoor ceremony on June 2. The Moyer Foundation Plaza now serves as the threshold to the Center's Public Health Sciences Division, which is housed in the Arnold Building.

The foundation, established by Seattle Mariners baseball star Jamie Moyer and his wife, Karen, has made numerous contributions to the cause of cancer research and patient care at the Center. Last December, The Moyer Foundation made its largest commitment to date — a $1.5 million, multiyear gift in support of early cancer detection research.

During the dedication ceremony, Karen and Jamie received induction into The Hutchinson Society's Nobel Laureates Circle, which honors individuals and family foundations that make an outright gift or pledge of $1 million or more in one fiscal year.

Founded in 2000, The Moyer Foundation provides comfort and support to children enduring a time of profound physical, emotional or financial distress. Among its key initiatives is The Gregory Fund, a partnership with the Center to support early cancer detection research at the Center. The Moyer Foundation's annual Catch A Cure for Cancer campaign, which will take place Aug. 11-14 of this year, supports The Gregory Fund through a series of fund-raising events, including a radiothon on KOMO 1000.
