Brief
Breast-cancer researchers are invited to apply for pilot-project grants from the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade Opportunity Fund, administered by the Center's Breast Cancer Research Program. The fund provides support for innovative research in all aspects of breast-cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis and/or treatment. Applications in any area related to breast cancer are encouraged.
The one-year grants provide $10,000 to $30,000 in total direct costs per year. A committee composed of clinical and basic breast-cancer researchers, community clinicians and breast-cancer advocates will evaluate all research proposals.
Priority will be given to proposals that are interdisciplinary in nature, use innovative approaches to study breast cancer and are submitted by young investigators or previous awardees whose funded work has progressed.
Awards are considered restricted gifts and do not cover indirect costs. Funding cannot directly support research involving animals, and Institutional Review Board approval will be required prior to release of funds for any studies involving human subjects.
Applicants must submit:
Submit the original application and seven copies by 3 p.m. on July 1, 2005, to Suzanne Lentz at mail stop C1-015/office C1-163. Funding decisions will be made by August 1, 2005. For additional information, contact Lentz at srlentz@fhcrc.org or (206) 667-1910.
