Last week, participants received a pedometer for finishing six weeks of the 12-week Healthy Challenge 2005. This year, there are about 500 employees competing in work-based teams and more than 100 others involved in the new home-based team category.

This week, these participants are invited to join the 2005 Walking Challenge. Using their new pedometers, participants who meet a weekly goal in number of steps taken will be eligible to win a prize.

"The midpoint pedometer giveaway is in keeping with the purpose of the Healthy Challenge: to have fun making small changes that can make a big difference in our health," says Jon Sheppard, Compensation and Benefits Manager. "The Walking Challenge was created to keep the pedometer from getting lost in the dresser drawer, since the real gift we are hoping to give is a longer, healthier and more satisfying life."
