Planning to travel internationally on Fred Hutchinson or Alliance business and unsure what documents you need to gain entry into the country? Will you need a visa?
An answer can generally be found on most foreign consular Web sites, but, depending on your circumstances, the information provided may be unclear.
To best prepare for your international travel:
- Contact the foreign consulate of the country of your destination to determine exactly what is required for entry. Although most foreign consular Web sites provide answers, if you have specific questions, fax or e-mail them to the consulate for clarification. Contact information is usually provided on the Web site.
- Be prepared to describe the purpose of your visit, travel dates and monetary involvement (if applicable). This will assist the consular official in determining whether you need a visa or other travel documents. The center's travel Web site provides a sample letter that can be used as a guide when contacting a foreign consulate. To view the letter, go to centernet.fhcrc.org/CN/depts/travel.
