HIV network presents overview on vaccines, clinical trials at Science Friday forum May 13 in Pelton

HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) presents "An Introduction to the HIV Vaccine Trials Network and HIV Vaccine Research" at the next Science Friday forum on May 13 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Sze conference room. HVTN community education projects manager Gail Broder will offer an overview of the network, its scientific goals and the latest information on HIV vaccines, with time for questions and answers.

Staff from the network's Seattle vaccine-trial site, located near Swedish Hospital, will be on hand to provide information. They will also be recruiting volunteers to participate in an HIV vaccine trial or serve on the network's Community Advisory Board. The program is a prelude to HIV Vaccine Awareness Day on May 18.

For more information on Science Fridays (subsequent programs will be held on June 24 and Nov. 18), contact Dr. Karen Peterson, interdisciplinary liaison, at kpeterso@fhcrc.org.
