Brief
Fifteen winners of the Harold M. Weintraub Graduate Student Award present their research at a symposium on Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 7, in Pelton Auditorium.
The award, initiated in 2000 to recognize outstanding academic endeavors, was created in honor of Dr. Harold M. Weintraub, an intellectual force in the Basic Sciences Division who died in 1995 from brain cancer. Weintraub was an international leader in the field of molecular biology.
Fred Hutchinson's Weintraub and Groudine Fund, established to foster academic exchange through the promotion of programs for graduate students, fellows and visiting scholars, sponsors the award. Friday's talks run from 9:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., with a 4:30 p.m. poster session featuring Fred Hutchinson/University of Washington molecular and cellular biology graduate-student research. Saturday's talks run from 9:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.
