Pilot funds available for cancer, aging projects

Faculty members are invited to apply for pilot-project funding for projects on aging and cancer. The purpose of these awards, which are offered through the Seattle Cancer and Aging Program (SCAP), is to accelerate research into the relationship between aging and cancer. Projects must fall within one of the following thematic areas:

The pilot proposals should include the participation of both a cancer investigator and an aging investigator or an expert in both areas, and should include a budget for up to $40,000 in direct costs per year for up to two years. The funds may be used generate preliminary results for outside funding or to provide a timely opportunity to test a new idea that might otherwise be lost if delayed by the National Institutes of Health review cycle.

The application deadline is June 8. Instructions, forms and answers to frequently asked questions are posted on the SCAP website: www.fhcrc.org/science/education/grad_postdoc/spac/.
