Next Science Friday is Nov. 18 in Pelton

Why are fish biologists working at a world-class cancer research center? Come to the next Science Friday presentation, from noon to 1 p.m., Nov. 18, in Pelton Auditorium, and find out. The talk, by Dr. Hilary Kemp, Moen lab, is entitled "Green glowing fish brains and mutant babies: What fish can tell us about being human."

You'll learn why fish are one of the best new model systems for understanding human development — that is, the process by which a fertilized egg develops into a full-term baby. Kemp will discuss what fish can tell us about human birth defects, and highlight the relationship between normal fetal development and adult diseases such as cancer.
