Say happy Valentine's Day with DNA

Brief

February 2, 2006

Dr. Andrew Taylor, staff scientist, looks at DNA molecules using an electron microscope to try to understand how damaged DNA molecules get fixed ("Darning broken DNA without losing a stitch," Center News, July 17, 2003). For some of Taylor's experiments, he added small circular DNA molecules as internal controls. The circular molecules form all sorts of random shapes, including this image that captured Taylor's heart — perhaps because this Valentine's Day also marks his 25th wedding anniversary.
