BRI lecture series continues with Torok-Storb lecture Aug. 8

The Center and University of Washington's collaborative Biomedical Research Integrity (BRI) lecture series continues Tuesday, Aug. 8, with a presentation by Dr. Beverly Torok-Storb, associate head of the Transplantation Biology Program. The lecture, entitled "Promoting Success/Enabling Fraud: Mentors Can Walk a Thin Line," takes place at 3 p.m. in Pelton Auditorium (Torok-Storb speaks at noon in the UW's Hogness Auditorium, A420 Health Sciences Building).

The lecture series is open to all faculty and staff. Postdoctoral fellows and graduate students who attend earn credit toward the Center's research-ethics education program requirement. They can also register for BRI series faculty-led, case-study discussion groups by contacting Lora Lindsey, llindsey@fhcrc.org, (206) 667-6109.

The summer series concludes Wednesday, Aug. 23, in Pelton Auditorium (Aug. 24 at the UW) with a presentation by Michael Rossner, managing editor, Journal of Cell Biology. Rossner's 3 p.m. lecture, entitled "What's in a Picture? The Temptation of Image Manipulation," focuses on research misconduct.
