NCI consortium presents mouse-model symposium June 28 in Pelton

Brief

The Mouse Models of Human Cancers Consortium (MMHCC) will hold its annual summer meeting in Seattle. A multidisciplinary team of National Cancer Institute (NCI) funded scientists, the MMHCC is working to derive and validate mouse models of human cancers, and will sponsor a symposium on June 28, 8 a.m.-noon, in Pelton Auditorium. The symposium, entitled "Mouse Models for Human Cancers: New Models, New Opportunities," will open with remarks from Drs. Norm Greenberg and Jim Roberts. The symposium will also be available via a simultaneous live Web cast at www.fhcrc.org/MMHCC. The schedule is as follows:

Genetically engineered mouse models are a very valuable research tool providing the cancer-research community opportunities for pre-clinical development and assessment of new therapeutic, preventive, early detection and diagnostic-imaging strategies.

The consortium and the NCI work together to implement workshops and symposia, to provide information about the models and related technology, and to plan for distribution of the validated mouse models to the cancer-research community.

The symposium is sponsored by the Center and Amgen. Registration is not required.
