Diversity in science luncheon for students, scientists July 7 in Arnold

Brief

June 15, 2006

The Minority Scientist Recruitment and Retention Coalition (MSRR), in partnership with the Center's Human Resources Department, invites scientists and students to a luncheon in "Celebration of Diversity in Science" on Friday, July 7, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., in the Arnold Building (room TBD, follow signs).

The MSRR works to help scientists and students across multiple backgrounds and Center programs make better connections with one another, to disseminate local and national information about initiatives to promote minority representation in the biomedical sciences, and to coordinate the recruitment and retention of scientists from communities of color.

Members of the board of directors for the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) will be special guests at the luncheon. Introducing them to our beautiful city and vibrant research community may influence considerations for holding a future SACNAS national conference in Seattle.

Please send a head count of the number of people from your program planning to attend the event by Friday, June 23, to Stephanie Otis at sotis@fhcrc.org.
