The Center joins work sites across the state in promoting environment-friendly modes of transportation during Wheel Options, March 13-24

By DEBRA COLLENDER

It's time for the semi-annual "Wheel Options" — a chance to re-think your commute, meet others who travel to and from work via bus, train, vanpool, carpool, bicycle or foot, and enter a drawing for prizes, including a trip to Disneyland. Sponsored by the Washington State Ridesharing Organization, Wheel Options is a statewide campaign to reduce traffic congestion, air pollution and energy consumption by promoting alternatives to the solo commute.

To get started, register with www.RideshareOnline.com between Feb. 20 and March 24. Find a match and be eligible for the RideShareOnline.com weekend bonus to Disneyland.

How to reap reward

Employees who use a wheel option at least twice during the March 13-24 promotion are eligible to reap rewards. Wheel Options include carpooling, vanpooling, riding the train or bus, biking, walking, working from home or compressing your work schedule.

Beginning March 17, enter the drawing by completing an online entry form at www.wheeloptions.org. Entries via the Wheel Options Web site must be submitted by Friday, March 31. Prizewinners will be announced and posted on the Wheel Options site on Friday, April 21.

Win a trip to London

Among the prizes are a travel voucher for a trip for two to London, including airfare, accommodations and a guided Rick Steves tour, and a getaway for two to the Empress Hotel in Victoria. In addition, the Hutchinson Center's Transportation Department is awarding Commuter Bonus-Plus Certificates, travel mugs, reflectors and other prizes. Entry forms will be available in the Yale lobby, the Weintraub Great Hall and the Arnold Building entry corridor at different times throughout the promotion.

For more info

The Transportation Department also has a program that helps employees find a carpool or vanpool match. For more information or questions about Wheel Options, and for help finding a carpool or vanpool match or information on how to get a HutchPass, call (206) 667-5099.
