Seventy attendees of the International Women's Forum (IWF) came to the Center last week for an audience with Dr. Lee Hartwell, Center president and director, and presentations by Dr. Anne McTiernan, Public Health Sciences Division and Dr. Mark Roth, Basic Sciences Division.

The women were among 450 leaders, in town from around the world to attend the conference, which included sessions at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, visits to local hubs of innovation and the induction of Nobel Laureate Dr. Linda Buck, Basic Sciences Division, into the IWF Hall of Fame.

The IWF is a worldwide organization of about 3,800 women leaders, including feminist activist Gloria Steinem, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and South Africa's first lady, Zanele Mbeki.

Local chapter members Sally Jewell and Deborah Bevier chaired the event, which was focused around the theme of innovation and creativity.
