'Science for Life' holds informal stem-cell research talk Oct. 5

The Center's new Science for Life series is giving the public up close and informal opportunities to explore scientific research. The four-part series continues Thursday, Oct. 5, 7-8:30 p.m., with "A Dialogue on Stem-Cell Research: Facts and Friction."

Drs. Beverly Torok-Storb, Tony Blau, Chuck Murry and Carol Ware will discuss the different types of stem cells, what can and can't be done with each, the common misunderstandings about stem-cell work and what these researchers envision for the future of stem-cell research.

Science for Life concludes Thursday, Oct. 12, 7-8:30 p.m., with a discussion about metabolic flexibility, led by Dr. Mark Roth.
