Dallas receives grant from National Marrow Donor Program

Dr. Mari Dallas, a Clinical Research Division scientist and an attending physician on the pediatric bone-marrow transplant service, recently received a three-year $240,000 grant from the National Marrow Donor Program's Aliana J. Enlow Scholar/Amy Strezler Manasevit Research Program.

The grant program targets scientists and clinicians early in their careers and works to advance the understanding of events occurring after stem-cell transplantation. Nationally, only two researchers receive funding.

Dallas is researching immune-system reconstitution after cord-blood transplantation, with a focus on ways to improve immune recovery. She works in the Irwin Bernstein Lab and will be collaborating with Drs. Stan Riddell and Colleen Delaney. The University of Washington Child Health Research Center, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Ronald McDonald House Charities also support her work.
