Two long-running Center fund-raising events generated $545,000 in June.
More than 2,400 participants braved stormy skies June 24 for the 30th annual Shore Run/Walk. Celebrating its anniversary milestone with a vintage 1984 theme, the popular Shore Run/Walk raised more than $170,000 for Center science.
Competitive and novice athletes shared the scenic route along the shores of Lake Washington. The all-ages Zillow.com 5K Run, The Old Spaghetti Factory 5K Walk, and the Continental Airlines 6.7-mile run events began at Leschi and Seward parks. The well-attended Foss Maritime 1K kids run took place at Madison Park. Since 1975, the Shore Run/Walk has raised more than $1.8 million for the Center.
On June 29, former Seattle Seahawks football star Jacob Green welcomed sports celebrities and friends to his 20th annual charity golf classic at The Golf Club at Newcastle. The tournament and live auction, which benefit the Center, raised more than $375,000.
