New Technology Development Fund committee calls for applications

The review committee for the New Technology Development Fund is calling for applications from Hutchinson Center faculty members and from staff scientists and postdoctoral fellows with faculty sponsorship. The fund supports research specifically designed to bring projects with potential commercial value to a stage that will attract a licensing partner or venture capital. Review of applications involves consideration of the quality of the underlying science and its commercial potential as determined by proprietary position and likely commercial impact and/or public benefit if successfully developed. The award amount is dependent on the scope of the project, and funding to date has ranged from $10,000 to $170,000.

For an example of NTDF-funded research, read "New use for a cell toxin found to inhibit survival proteins in cancer cells," at www.fhcrc.org/about/ne/news/2007/07/11/cell_toxin.html.
